To celebrate the 20th birthday of SpongeBob I wanted to capture him in stained glass. At that time I had just finished a collaboration with Bacardi with the unmissable inflatable flamingo. With stained glass depicting inflatables in my mind I started this bright design. The inflatable-inspired SpongeBob is circular. A stained glass tondo, standing in a solid oak frame. To give him the joyous glimmer in his eyes, I shaped his pupils by glass fusion.
For me Spongebob represents joy, by making his smile quite large, standing in front of him you can’t resist to smile a little yourself.
